Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.

St Kevins Catholic Primary School Eastwood OutreachHelping those in need is an integral part of being a Mercy community. Students in our enthusiastic Mercy Action Group meet regularly to work on projects that build awareness of our local and global responsibilities and fundraise for various initiatives. Being part of this group teaches awareness of others and builds our students leadership skills.

Our community collects money, food and supplies for Vinnies Night Patrol, along with blankets during winter. We fundraise for Caritas each year, and collect food hampers for families in need. Having a preferential option for the poor is an embedded value within our Mercy community.
