Year 5 White Teacher and Stage 3 Coordinator

Personal message: As a primary educator, I believe in order for students to grow and develop into successful, faith-filled individuals they need to be immersed in purposeful learning experiences, collaborate with their peers and challenge themselves to take risks and apply critical and creative thinking skills.

Areas of responsibility: The Stage 3 Coordinator has the responsibility to assist teachers to know their students and adapt teaching and learning to suit their individual needs. As a Literacy coach, it is Andrew’s role to work with teachers to develop their skills in teaching Literacy to improve student learning.

Professional experience: Andrew was appointed as Coordinator 2 from 2021. 

Andrew has taught in south-west Sydney for 7 years. During that time he taught Early Stage 1, Stage 1, and Stage 3. He worked as a classroom teacher at Saint Gertrude’s Catholic Primary School, Smithfield, and John the Baptist Catholic Primary School, Bonnyrigg Heights. Andrew has also worked in the role of Gifted and Talented Education Coordinator, and been a member of Wellbeing, and Diverse Learning Teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education (Primary) – Australian Catholic University
  • Certificate of Gifted Education – University of New South Wales

Professional interests:

  • Investigating the diversity of learners and how to adapt teaching to cater to individual learning needs.
  • Literacy teaching and learning that is aligned to current research and the Australian Curriculum.
